Minneapolis Police Bust Gang Members for String of Violent Beatings as Police Chief Pleads for More Officers

Minneapolis Police have arrested more than a dozen suspected gang members involved in a string of violent robberies and beatings in the downtown area.

The most graphic of the incidents took place on August 3 near Target Field where an intoxicated male was repeatedly punched, kicked, and even run over by a bike. They stripped the victim of his pants in broad daylight while one suspect threw a potted plant at his head and another robbed him of his wallet.

The same group of men were involved in at least two other robberies in the same area. Their strategy was to target drunken men and rob them of their wallets and cellphones—a crime that carries a high sentence and a low payoff.

According to Daily Mail, police arrested more than 16 suspects believed to be members of a gang during a three-day sting operation two weeks ago. The suspects range in age from 13-25 and at least one faces up to 20 years in prison for first-degree aggravated robbery if convicted.

Reports from local media claim that robberies are up 53 percent in the downtown area this year after 47 people were attacked during a 20-day stretch in August.

As The Minnesota Sun reported, local business owners aren’t pleased with the situation. Several prominent businessmen and women spoke out on the rise in crime in an August interview with WCCO.

“By midnight the place is almost empty because people are trying to get out of dodge. It’s the wild, wild west out here,” one said.

“We’re tired of the violence down here. We’re tired of people getting beat up. We’re tired of people being robbed. We’re tired of people being shot. We’re tired of it,” another added.

One business owner, Gavin Rydell of Infinite Vapor, posted a video of a shooting on Hennepin Avenue along with a message for the Minneapolis City Council.

“Thank you Minneapolis City Council for focusing on bike lanes, banning e-cig flavors, raising wages to a point that businesses will eventually fail, you guys are about the worst policy makers in the country,” he said. “I am adding a video of what happens in Minneapolis every single weekend. The media doesn’t cover it, the state doesn’t talk about it. Minneapolis after dark is one of the most dangerous [cities] there is.”

Meanwhile, police chiefs of both the Minneapolis Police Department and St. Paul Police Department are pleading for more sworn officers. During his recent budget address, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey requested funds for 14 additional law enforcement officers, despite Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo’s request for 400 new officers by 2025.

“Quite frankly, we are at a point of crisis, in terms of public safety, and men and women joining this very honorable profession,” Arradondo said in August.

Undoubtedly, the victims were enjoying the benefits of their “white privilege” during these particularly festive occasions. Will the perpetrators be charged with hate crimes? Of course not! Blacks can’t be racist because the radical leftists who run many of these large cities live in an altered reality designed only to validate their worldview. The left has created a society in which reason and objective truth no longer exist; only the political narrative matters.

I watched the horrific video. Robbery also occurred, but it mostly is assault and looks to be racially motivated. I think this is a federal crime as well as a local problem. Almost six weeks passed by before I heard about this. How is it possible that such a crime went mostly unnoticed for this long. Maximum prison terms are due.

These are hate crimes against white people but your democrat politicians want this to happen more. They want more crime and more assaults both will lead to more chaos and more death or imprisonments. This is the democrats goals. If you’re in prison you can’t destroy the environment or have babies, if you are dead this is the most optimum outcome because then you have 0 emissions… your death, imprisonment or being poor are great for the climate… spread hate ,disarm the innocent so they can be victims, keep everyone poor, promote anything that will control the population… welcome to the Democrat party…

Right on. Minneapolis deserves this insanity. They elected the Lib-tards that approve of immigration and sanctuary cities. Hope the Mall is closed for good and all the employees are let go. They voted them in.

Just put them down like the animals they are. These are not people. There is no need to waste tax dollars on animals like this.

  14. No other conclusion but RACISM, just the wrong direction. The media wont get anywhere near that.

  15. Tina

These appear to be black on white hate crimes. Minneapolis is turning into Mogadishu

  16. James

Sad to see something like this happening.

  17. Dd

I’m from seattle same thing happening here. Progressives running our cities.

Read “White Girl Bleed A lot” by Colin Flaherty. He is an award-winning journalist who documented thousands of instances where the media and public officials refused to acknowledge the level of organized violence by blacks in cities across the USA. It is a national problem that has been occurring for years, and is not necessarily “gang” violence but street violence organized through social media. The objective is to beat and rob white people, and the media and public officials consistently refuse to identify black suspects by race even when police reports and victim statements clearly indicate that information. Interesting reading.

I wonder if it were a gang of white people doing this if it would be reported as racially motivated. Just saying. Media bias at its best.

You reap what you sow. Everyone wants to think police are an unnecessary inconvenience, but then are shocked when people get robbed and beat every night and their business suffers. Stop electing idiots who care more about prison reform and criminals than they do the citizens.

Tired of the ethnicity that is at the root of your problems yet? Do something quickly…or lose your city. Look to Chicago…Baltimore…DC…for examples. Good luck.

  22. Lou

Tell us why these are not hate crimes
All suspects are black and victims are white
This would be a hate crime if it was the opposite
Report it the same way you cowards

    1. Laurie Koppes

I agree. Either side. If its racially motivated…say so.

  23. Donna

Why isn’t anyone calling it what it is! Omar’s thugs attacking WHITE or LIGHT skinned males? It’s Racism, but they dont call it what it is! Robbery my ass!
    Blacks attacking whites!
